Sarah is born on April 17, 1876 in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada the daughter of James George Paterson (1838-1922) and Margaret Reid (1848-1915). She is baptised on June 26 1876 in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Bendale, Scarborough. Her parents live on a farm in Agincourt, a Scarborough village -- Lot 28, Concession 3. This is the original homestead of her grandparents, William Goodfellow Paterson and Sarah Lockie, who immigrated to Upper Canada from Scotland in 1818. In today’s geography, the farm is on the northeast corner of Kennedy Road and Sheppard Avenue in the city of Toronto.
Sarah can be found in the 1881 census as a four-year old living with her family on the farm in Scarborough. And she is 15 years old living with her family in the 1891 census. But she is not living at home in the 1901 census and (to date) she has not been found in these records.
On June 15, 1905 Sarah marries Robert Milne Loveless (1869-1929). Robert was also baptised in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Bendale. Sarah and Robert and were neighbours when they were children and they went to the same church.
In the 1911 census, Sarah and Robert are living on a farm in Scarborough – Lot 31, Concession 2 of Scarborough. This is the farm of Robert’s uncle which he has now either inherited, bought or otherwise taken over. Sarah and Robert have two children – William G. (3) and James D. (1) – a servant, two labourers and the uncle, Elijah Abraham living with them. This is the last record (other than gravestone) that has been found on either Sarah or Robert.
Robert dies on January 10, 1929 and Sarah dies on March 9, 1944. They are buried in the cemetery of Knox United (formerly Presbyterian) Church in Scarborough -- corner of Sheppard and Midland Avenues.
