My matralineal great grandmother was Matilda (Kathleen May) Wareham (nee Patterson). Her patrilineal grandfather was this David Henry Patterson.
Notes from my families history, handed down to me (Chris Plewright) from my Aunt Glenys Wilma Walter (nee Potter) who researched our family's ancestry:
David Henry Patterson, son of David and Jean/Jane Patterson (nee Taylor), came to Perth, Western Australia, on the ship 'Caroline' in the employ of Mr James Henty of West Tarring, Sussex, arriving at Swan River on the 12th October, 1829. His age was then given as 27. An account of this journey can be read in [1]
A grandson remembers the Pattersons as big men, big Scotch men with big loud voices.
Young David Henry Patterson and his future wife Marry Ann (Marion) Patterson (nee Horspool) both served in the employ of Mr James Henty.
David and Mary Ann were married 6 March 1832 at Perth, Western Australia by the Colonial Chaplain Rev. J. B. Wittenoom
