Biography

William Patterson was the son of William Patterson and Janet Irvine. He was born about 1720 in Ireland most likely (he was not in Augusta County until about 1749) and died after 18 April 1785, probably in Augusta County, Virginia. On 28 February 1749, he obtained a deed from Robert Beverly for land on the South River. William served with the Augusta County Militia in 1752 in the French and Indian War. In 1785 he was exempted from the Augusta County Levies.

Marriage

William was married to Mary Walker. They had at least four children. His second wife was Mary McDonald from Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
