Biography

Samuel was born in 1865. He was the son of Robert Patterson and Mary Sayers of Clondahorkey, Donegal.^[1]

He worked as a Flaxdresser.

Samuel emigrated to America in 1888 on the ship Nebraska aged 20 arriving at New York 18 May 1888.

He was 25 when he married on 17 Aug 1891 at Manistique, Schoolcraft, Michigan to Mary Baxter, aged 22. J S McKnight and Flora McArthur of Manistique were their witnesses. Mary was the daughter of Matthew and Griselda (Lizzie) Baxter of Donegal, Ireland.

Five known children were born in their marriage, Robert J, Annie, William Matthew, Samuel Jr and Robert. Three of the boys died in their infancy survived only by sister Annie and Robert born 1904.

Samuel died aged 41 at 1216 Bucknall Street. Samuel Patterson was buried at Mt Peace Cemetery. 12 Dec 1865 - 29 Dec 1906
