Biography

Lewis Patterson was born on November 6, 1861.^[1] He was the son of Silas Patterson and Joanna Hicks.^[2]

Beginning with the 1871 census, Lewis, then age 10, was living in the household of Mariner Hicks and Celia Ann White. He remained with them over the subsequent two censuses. Mariner was the brother of Lewis's mother, Joanna. In 1861, Joanna and Silas had been living with Celia's parents, William White and Cynthia Sears. It is unknown what became of them, or why Lewis was living with his uncle.

Lewis married Eva Estabrooks on August 21, 1884 in Amherst, Nova Scotia.^[3][4] He died at the age of 46, on July 2, 1908, and was buried in the Midgic Cemetery.^[5]
