John Bowron, son of John Bowron of Cotherstone in the County of York and Isabell his wife, both deceased, and Abigail Pattinson, Daughter of John Pattinson of Hesgate in the County of Cumberland. and Ruth his wife, likewise deceased, having declared their intentions of taking each other in marriage before several Meetings of the people called Quakers in the County of Durham, the proceedings of the said John Bowron - - - and Abigail Pattinson - - - after due enquiry and deliberate Consideration thereof were allowed by the said Meetings, they appearring clear of all others and having consent of all concerned.
Now these are to certify all whom it may concern that for the accomplishing of their said Marriage this 14th day of the eighth month called August, in the Year One Thousand seven Hundred and seventy seven, they the said John Bowron and Abigail Pattinson, appeared at a publick Assembly of the aforesaid People and others in their Meeting House in Lartington and he the said John Bowron - - - - taking the said Abigail Pattison by the Hand, did openly and solomnly declare as followeth, In the presence of this Assembly,
I take thee, Abigail Pattinson, to be my wife, promising through divine Assistance, to be unto thee a loving and faithful Husband until it please the Lord by Death to seperate us, or words to the same purport
And the said Abigail Pattinson did then and there in the said Assembly declare as followeth. In the presence of this Assembly, I take thee, John Bowron, to be my husband, promising through divine Assistance, to be unto thee a loving and faithful wife until it please the Lord by Death to seperate us, or words to the same purport
And the said John Bowron and Abigail Pattison as a further Confirmation thereof and in the Testimony thereunto, did then and there to those present set their Hands.

We who are present among others, at the aforesaid Marriage have also subscribed our Names as Witnesses thereunto, the Day and Year above written.
