George Edward Patton was born in 1861, at the beginning of the Civil War, to William Patton and Amelia Danglade in Vevay, Switzerland County, Indiana.[1][2]He married Ida Mary Scott in 1891 in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana.[3] He died in Terre Haute , Indiana in Dec 1940 and was buried at Madison, Indiana. [4][5]

Funeral Services Saturday for Former Woolen Mill Official Mr. George E. Patton, 79, retired executive of the old Schofield woolen mill, died at 9:00 o'clock last night at his apartment in Terre Haute where he and Mrs. Patton were spending the winter with their son Allison. He had been in failing health about three years but had been seriously ill only a few days. A resident of 318 west Third street [Madison Indiana] for many years, he had gone to Terre Haute only three weeks ago. Born in Vevay [Indiana] Mr. Patton came to Madison in 1879 and became associated with the Schofield woolen mill. For 45 years he continued with the woolen mill, having served as secretary and office manager until his retirement in 1926. Mr. Patton was a director of the Madison Building & Loan Association, a member of Trinity M.E. church, although he had lived a life of retirement in recent years. He had many friends and acquaintances in this city. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ida Scott Patton; four sons, Harold at Evanston, Ill.; William at Burlingame, Calif,; George at richmond, and Allison of Terre Haute; ad a sister, Mrs. Eloine Knox, at Redonda, Calif. He leaves also several relative at Vevay. Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. W.E. Brown at the Lytle funeral home, Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with burial in Springdale cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home afternoon tomorrow.
