obituary: Mrs. Bessie Hammel Bessie Patton Hammel , daughter of Maria and Robert Patton, was born in Brown county, Illinois on February 29, 1872. She departed this life after 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, July 5, 1950, at Mt. Sterling, where she had been a patient at the Yockey Nursing Home for several months. She was married to Howard Hammel, who preceded her in death several years ago. She was a member of the Christian church of Versailes and although ill health prevented her attendance, her faith never wavered. Surviving are two sons, Eldon Six of Jacksonville and Everett Hammel of Versailles; one sister Mrs. Daisy Flabearty of Chicago, and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Besides many other relatives and friends. Hard to read-- Bessie ????? and kind neighbor. Ready and willing at all times to help in ??? sickness ????? trouble as long as her health permitted. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Tarrant Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Bartels officiating. Hymns were sang by Mrs. Roy Wilson accompanied by Mrs. Clarke Mitchell. Flowers were cared for by Glenna Thoroman, Josephine Hanks and Mrs. Reiche
