Ephraim Pauley was born about 1794 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, United States. He was a son of Joseph A. Pauley and Levina Midkiff Pauley. On January 17, 1818 in Kanawha County, Virginia, he married Anna Mullens. Ephraim died June 2, 1865 in West Virginia. Lincoln County was not created until 1867, therefore he probably died in Putnam County, where he resided in 1860.
From William Morgan Pauley memorial (Find A Grave: Memorial #130215380) "Ephraim Pauley, born about 1794 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia died 1865 in Lincoln County, West Virginia. The following paragaph taken from the "West Virginia Heritage Encyclopedia",supplemental Vol 7, pages 121-122. "Ephraim and Anna (Mullins) Pauley lived in Kanawha County before the organization of Lincoln County. Ephraim came from Franklin Count, Virginia to Charleston, Kanawha County before the War of 1812, in which he volunteered to serve, but peace came before he went to the field. He was married in 1818 and in 1823 built the first mill on Fuquas Creek, it have been a tub-whell mill. Here he raised a large family and died at a good old age." Ephraim's parents: Joseph A.
