Sarah Catherine "Kate" (Paxton) Elmore is one of 8 children of Thomas Paxton and Mary Plott. Mary is Thomas's 2nd wife. Mary Paxton is found on the Botetourt Co., VA 1830 census roll #189 p.309.
Mary is 40-50 yrs. old; Sarah Catherine is one of two females 5-10 yrs. old. Thomas d. before 1830. Mary is also on the Botetourt Co., VA 1850 census (annotated by Jennings) p.215; #202 with a note (see #149 John Doss).
John Doss is the spouse of Mary's daughter Nancy Paxton b 1825 Botetourt Co., VA. Nancy and John mar april 2, 1846 Alleghany Co., VA. Nancy is also on the 1830 Botetourt Co. census. She is the other one of two females 5-10 yrs. old.
