DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:
DNA has proven the John, Barnabus and Nehemiah given as sons of Isaac and Sarah Payne are not their sons. The James Payne listed is a brother to John Payne thus also not a son. Thomas Jefferson, born 1732, was born before Isaac and Sarah married in 1733 therefore unlikely to be a son. There are no records to connect Enoch and Joshua to Isaac and Sarah Payne in MD. Isaac Payne, Jr. was listed in the 1800 Rowan, NC census and is the one who died there before 5 May 1801 when administration of his estate was assigned to his brother,John Payne, who had also recently moved to Rowan, NC from Caroline, MD. (This John Payne was my ggg grandfather.)
