1860 Census: John (47) and Martha (sic) (34) are living in Sumner County, Tennessee where John is a farmer. There are 7 children in the home. Two daughters from his marriage to Jane West, Elza A. (20) and Mary E. (18), and 5 children through his marriage to Martha, William A. (15), J. F. (13), Sarah J. (11), M. E. (7), and Robert (4).[5]
