His mother was Alice Payne. His father is unknown and he, along with all his siblings, carried their mother's maiden name.

Name may be MD Payne. I can only find two census with him - and one looks like W and the other appears to be M

In 1910, he lived with his mother and siblings. His father is not on the census.

In 1920, he lived with his Aunt's family.
