The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, Nova Scotia, December 6, 2013
Bride Leah LeValliant (April 20, 1931 - December 4, 2013)
Leah "Bride" (Payne) LeValliant (April 20, 1931 - December 4, 2013) passed peacefully away at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, surrounded by loving family and friends. She will be missed by everyone, but especially by Katharine to whom she was both Grandmother and Mother.

Bride was born in Rocky Harbour, NL, the daughter of Salvation Army Captain William and Ida Payne, and while she spent most of her adult life in Gander, Rocky Harbour was her home. Her connection to home remained strong and she loved to return to Rocky Harbour for the annual Payne get-togethers.

Left to mourn her passing are grandchildren, Katharine (Scott) Morrison of Halifax, NS, Keith (Lenore) Collins of Fort McMurray, AB, Daniel Collins of St. John's, NL, Jennifer McDougall of New York; great-grandchildren, Allie and Drew Morrison, Jacob and Sean Collins; sisters, Maxine (Hiram) Chaulk of Corner Brook, NL, Donna (Tom) Northcott of Sackville, NS, Elizabeth (Bessie) Crocker (Ellis deceased) of Corner Brook, NL, Bonnie (Leo, deceased) Foley of Stephenville Crossing, NL; brothers, Gerald (Bertha) Payne of Corner Brook, NL; Warwick (Wilma) Payne of Alberton, PEI, Bruce (Alfreda) Payne of Corner Brook, NL; brother-in-law Edmund LeValliant of Gander, NL; sisters-in-law Gertie (Jerry) Hill of Dartmouth, NS, Pauline (Alton) Payne of Rocky Harbour, NL; her really close friend Clarice Goodyear of Gander, NL; and many other relatives and friends, too numerous to mention.

Bride was predeceased by husband, Gordon; daughter Allison (Garry) Collins; brothers, Clarson, Alton, Clyde (Dorothy); sisters Greta (John) White, and Patsy Payne. Funeral services will take place at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS (455-0531) on Saturday, December 7 at 10 am in the memorial chapel.[3]
