There was a Simeon Payne born about 1816-died 22 February 1894. He also signed up to serve on the Union side of Civil War in the state of Kentucky. The marriage for Aggy Smith is possibly for this Simeon Payne from Kentucky. While researching Simeon Payne of West Virginia I found service records for both Simeon Paynes. Some researchers have combined them as one person.
