Murray Edwin Payne and Dorothy Embury had their second child in the military hospital in Camp Shilo, MB on 06 July 1950. They named that child Walter William Payne as they assumed it was a male. Many years later she realized she was not a male and changed her name to Erin Elizabeth Payne and her gender to female.
Erin attended elementary school in Calgary AB in Currie Barracks, Junior High in Camp Petawawa, ON and High School in Edmonton, Alberta. Her first serious job after high school was with Canada Post Office as a letter carrier. In 1974 she began apprenticing as an electrician worked off and on in that trade, mostly in industrial construction projects for 30 years.
While still presenting as a male Erin began her first marriage in July of 1975. That marriage took place in Edmonton Alberta and was to Marjorie Eileen Lloyd. It lasted until July of 1979. Her second marriage, still while presenting as a male, was on the 4th of April in 1986 in Elkhorn, Manitoba in Trinity United Church. She was living in Virden, Manitoba at the time.
It was at this time, after relocating to Virden and getting married again, that she became interested in genealogy. In the summer of 1984 she had attended a family reunion that included the descendants of Benjamin Franklin Embury in Bowsman, MB. She became interested in meeting her relatives living Manitoba. Erin and her partner traveled to many locations in the province to meet living relatives and record their stories and memories. They learned of the existence of these people by reading community history books. They sent letters to family to get written records and made videotapes when possible.

Thank you for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.
Getting started with DNA outlines how to proceed to use your DNA test information on WikiTree and DNA is a link to a collection of links about WikiTree's many features involving DNA.
The DNA Connections list on your profile will provide a visual way for you to find potential relatives on WikiTree who have also added their DNA test information. Using DNA tools at sites like GEDMatch.com, if you find a relative that matches your DNA sufficiently and you have genealogical sources for the intermediate relationships, you can mark the specific parental relationships back to the most recent ancestor that you both share as "confirmed with DNA." For details, guidance, and examples of how to properly document DNA confirmations, see DNA confirmation.
To find other potential relatives, continue adding sourced profiles for other lines until you can connect on all branches. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches that relate to the particular branches you are researching.
