Biography

Peyton was born in 1877 to William John Payne and Nancy J Hamilton in Kimball, Bosque, Texas, He was number 5 out of 6 children. His siblings are Sarah (aka Sallie), Henriette (aka Etta), Alvarado, Melissa Alice, and Jules Trater.

His WWII Draft Card states (when he was 65 years old) that he was 5 foot 5 inches tall, he weighed 130 pounds and had black hair and hazel eyes.

On January 4, 1904 he married Nancy J Kincheloe, Together they had 4 children - John Lee, Mary Etta, Julia Ann, and Richard K (aka Bill). Sometime between 1910 and 1918 the family moved to Oklahoma, first to Love county but then settling in Ardmore, Carter county.

According to census he was a farmer in 1920, an owner/manager of a grocery store in 1930. (more coming)

He passed away in February 2, 1964 and was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore.
