Victor was born 7 November 1886 in Dresden to Samuel Lee Paynter and Mary Olive Wilson.[1] The family was living in Saginaw County, Michigan, in 1900.[2] By 1910, they were back in Dresden.[3]
Victor married Freda Crozier on 8 December 1917 in Muskingum County.[4] His sister Gertrude was married to Freda's brother Sheldon. However, Victor was living with his parents in Zanesville in 1920.[5]
Victor married Mildred. They were living in Dresden in 1930.[6]
Victor died 22 July 1939.[7] His grave is presently unmarked at Dresden Cemetery.
Funeral Wednesday For Victor Paynter
"Funeral services for Victor E. Paynter, 48, of 1235 Gattrell street, will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Trinity Methodist church, with Rev. Homer McDaniel officiating. Burial will be at Dresden.
Mr. Paynter, who was a native of Dresden, died late Saturday at Bethesda hospital following a three years' illness resulting from a mining accident. He had resided in this city for a number of years.
Surviving are his widow, Mildred; two daughters, Virginia and Ruth of the home; one son, Edward, of the home; his mother, Mrs. Mary Olive Paynter, Fernanda street; two sisters, Mrs. Shell Crozier, Dresden, and Mrs. Wheaton, of Zanesville, and two brothers, Charles and Jacob Paynter, also of this city.
The body will remain at Seat funeral home."[8]
FUNERAL SERVICES FOR VICTOR PAYNTER, FORMER RESIDENT AT ZANESVILLE
"Funeral services for (Pete) Victor E. Paynter, 51, former resident of Dresden, were held Wednesday afternoon at Trinity M. E. church Zanesville with Rev. Homer McDaniels officiating. Burial was at Dresden.
He leaves his wife Mildred, three children, Virginia, Ruth, Edward of the home; his mother, Mrs. Mary O. Paynter, of Zanesville; two sisters, Mrs. ? Crozier of Dresden, Mrs. Myrtle Wheaton, Zanesville; two brothers, Charles Paynter of Dresden and Jacob Paynter of Zanesville. Seat funeral home was in charge.
Among those from Dresden who attended the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Shell Crozier, Bernice Crozier, Charles and Dempsey Crozier, Mr. find Mrs. Charles Paynter and daughters Frances and Margaret, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ruebush and daughters, Marilee and Dolores, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Paynter and son Jimmie, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mossman, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dunfee of Tyndal."[9]
