- William E. "Bill" Peacher Jr., 82, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Washington County Hospital.
- Born March 3, 1923, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William E. and Ethel Murray Peacher.
- He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School. He received a bachelor's degree in history from Shepherd College and his master's degree in history from Shippensburg (Pa.) University.
- He was a Washington County school teacher for 34 years, retiring in 1984.
- He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Hagerstown.
- He was a member of the Lions Club of Chewsville and Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge 378 of Hagerstown.
- He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Abbott Peacher; one daughter, Laurie P. Rios of Queens, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Daniel A. Rios of Queens, and Rose A. Carroll and Adam M. Carroll, both of New Bloomfield, Mo.
- He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lee Ann Carroll, and one sister, Frances J. Beard.
- A memorial service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Hagerstown. The Rev. Scott P. Bellows will officiate.
- In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Washington County, 20 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
- Arrangements are by Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
