OLIVER J. PEACHER SR. WELL-KNOWN PIANIST IN BALTIMORE, DIES
Services for Oliver John Peacher Sr., a well-known Baltimore piano player, will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Ruck Funeral Home in Hamilton. Mr. Peacher, who was 76, died of cancer Friday at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, S.C.
TX_TX He was born in Baltimore. His father owned and operated Peacher's Bakery in Dundalk. After graduating from Polytechnic Institute in 1933, Mr.
Peacher went to work at Bethlehem Steel Corp. where he was employed 41 years.
Mr. Peacher also enjoyed a 51-year career as a musician and pianist with several local orchestras. He played with the Carl Hamilton, Mark Wardow, Hi-Landers and Baltimore City Charm orchestras.
He also was active in the St. Paul's and Perry Hall Methodist churches and the Perry Hall Baptist Church and was a member of the Patapsco Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, the former Louise Haley of Columbia, S.C.; two sons, Oliver J. Peacher Jr. of Columbia, S.C., and William G. Peacher of Vero Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Wendy Peacher of Los Angeles, Calif.; four brothers, William D. Peacher of Bel Air, Charles A. Peacher of Perry Hall, George E. Peacher of Abingdon, and the Rev. Eric G. Peacher of Baltimore; five sisters, Mildred B. Peacher of Cockeysville, Elizabeth A. Schwartz of Baltimore, Grace Lassahn of Snellville, Ga., June V. Grden of Norrisville and Ruth B. Davis of Timonium; and six grandchildren.
