James was born in Lancashire, England on 5 May 1857 and baptised in Manchester on 17 June that year. [1] He was the son of Francis (Frank) Peacock and Jane Wells.
He married Eveline de Jongh and they had 5 children born in Smyrna, in the Ottoman Empire, now Turkiye.
By 1904, James was initiated into Freemasonry, in the masonic Lodge in Cairo, Egypt. [2][3]
James was a mechanical engineer [4]and in 1913 he patented a device used in water heating and circulation for locolotives. [5]
He returned to work in Cairo, Egypt in 1918 and he died there in 1923, aged 66.
