Mary Ann Peacock Cline was born on 1 August 1856 in Waddington, St. Lawrence, New York to English-American John Peacock and Scottish immigrant Isabella McIntosh. When she was 7 years old, her father was killed in action in the Battle of Olustee in Florida. She was subsequently raised by her mother alongside her siblings.
Family
She was married to Orville William Cline of Massena on 27 December 1877 in Waddington. The marriage produced two children:
Mary was the founder of the Fulton Chapter, No. 515, Order of Eastern Star - a Masonic organization revolved around teachings from the Bible - and was the first matron, having served in this position for three terms. She also belonged to the Order of Amaranth chapter in Massena.
Additionally, Mary was an authority on historical matters pertinent to the Waddington area and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waddington and St. Agnes Guild.
Death
Mary was strong and healthy until she suffered a fractured hip after falling in her home on 24 September 1946. She passed away on 9 January 1947 in Waddington and was buried three days later in Brookside Cemetery.
