Research Notes
Chapin reports that Elizabeth's birth and marriage dates were in a family bible belonging to her son Thomas. He had heard that this bible was in the possession of the Dyer family, but he was unable to track it down. He does not reveal how the information came to him.
Elizabeth's parentage is unknown. Because she named a son John Pearce Jones, we may expect her father was named John Pearce. Elizabeth's father-in-law Thomas Jones was a butcher in Newport, and her mother in law Meribah Jones was reportedly from Prudence Island. It is, perhaps, notable that a Daniel Pearce of Prudence Island was a butcher, and had a son and father named John Pearce.
