John was born in 1782 in Emsworth, Hampshire. He was the son of Edward Pearson and Jenny Crockford.
John married Sarah Hawkins on 23 November 1811 in Saint Thomas, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England.[1]
John and Sarah had nine children:
John along with his family emigrated to Australia on board the Edward Caulson, arriving in Sydney on 18th November 1833.[2]
After settling in Sydney, John opened a drapers shop in Pitt St Sydney.

John died in 1860 in Parramatta, New South Wales.[4]
On the 30th November, at his residence, George-street, Parramatta, of a short but painful illness, Mr. John Pearson (formerly of Sydney), in his 79th year.[5]
