A third wife, Mary (maiden name unknown) appears on a land deed to Morris Pearson, before Aug. 1825. There were no children born to this marriage.
On a deed dated 20 July 1789, John and his wife Susannah Woolsey sold 280 acres on Quarrel Swamp, adjoining Joel Woolsey and Randell Woolsey's old line.
July 21, 1789, John Sr. and his wife deeded 231 acres with all houses, orchards, etc. to John Pearson Jr., for 5 shillings. This land was on Fountain Creek. There are many legal documents and transactions for John Pearson, Jr. in Brunswick Co., VA. He bought and sold land, gave land to his children, witnessed many documents, and was executor of several wills.
His will dated 21 July 1830, probated in the August 1832 Court, Brunswick Co., left most of his property and slaves to his 3 daughters, Elizabeth A., Rebecca W., and Susan J. He also left Rebecca "property which was her sister Mary's and left to Rebecca by Mary". To son Jessie A., he left a slave; To son John R., daughter Sally King, and son Henry J., "in addition to what I have already given them, the sum of five dollars". The balance was to be sold and his son William W. was to receive $550. He left $20.00 to be divided among the children of Littleton. Then, should a surplus remain, it was to be equally divided among the children of Littleton and John R. Pearson. The executor was his friend Benjamin D. Chapman. Witnesses were W. C. Harrison and Drury Pearson.
When the will was interpreted as meaning the children of Littleberry and the children of John R., instead of the implied "to John R.", John R. contested the will.
Depositions were given by John Jr.'s family particularly the three daughters, that their father had been upset when John R. sold the land he had deeded him, and moved to Kentucky, and wanted the grandchildren to have John R.'s share. Because John R.'s three younger children (Bins, William, and John) were under age, John R. filed for guardianship of them. Records in both Allen County, KY and Brunswick County, VA granted his request.
After the death of John Pearson, Jr., his daughter Susan J. (Pearson) Goodrich, and the children of Littleberry, continued to live in Virginia. The others left Virginia. John R. already lived in Allen Co., KY; William Wiggs moved to Warren Co., KY; Henry J. settled in Madison Co., TN; Sally (Pearson) KIng moved to Williamson Co., TN; Jesse Allen moved to Tennessee and then to Van Buren AR; and Rebecca and Elizabeth sold their father's land and moved to Warren Co., KY to be near their brothers.
