Margaret's family returned to England before 1891 and while Margaret wasn't residing with them, it appears she had taken after her parents in her occupation.
In 1891, Margaret was residing in Birchington, Kent. She was 32-years-old, single and the principal of a school. She was living with her sister Mary, some students and boarders. Margaret was the head of the household. [2]
In 1893, Margaret married Irish-born, Charles R. Haig. The marriage was registered in Thanet, Kent. [3] Margaret was Charles' third wife, although technically, his second.
In 1901, Margaret and Charles were living in Birchington, Kent. The couple had a daughter together. Her name was also Margaret. There were other children in the household from Charles' previous relationships. There was a cousin in the household by the name of Rosa Lawes. It is likely that this was Charles' cousin. [4]
