Gertrude (Peate) Shackleton was born in Yorkshire, England.

Gertrude was born in Yeadon, West Riding of Yorkshire, England in 1882. She was the daughter of Thomas Peate and Sarah Rawnsley, and one of seven children.

Gertrude married John William Shackleton in 1908. the marriage was registered in the first quarter in Wharfedale. It appears the couple had two children. Gertrude passed away in 1974. Her death was registered in the third quarter in Wharfedale.
