He married Elizabeth Gaskin on 8th December 1833, in Maidstone Kent [3]

Daniel married Elizabeth in Kent, England when he was 24 and she was 20. They had 5 children in England and then on 5 Feb 1841 they boarded the CATHERINE STEWART FORBES in Gravesend with 4 of their children (his 1st born, Daniel, died in infancy) He was also accompanied by his 2 brothers Charles and Henry They arrived in Port Nicholson (now Wellington) on 24 June 1841 and settled in the Lower Hutt area of Wellington. They had another 9 children - a total of 14 children over 22 years, by which time he was 46 and Elizabeth was 42. [4]

They immigrated to New Zealand aboard the "Katherine Stewart Forbes", arriving Wellington in 1841:

He died in 1887 [6]

Death of an Old Settler. EVENING POST, VOLUME XXXIV, ISSUE 31, 5 AUGUST 1887 Mr Daniel Peck, one of the few remaining pioneer settlers of the province, died suddenly last evening when driving home from the Lower Hutt to the Nainai with his sons John and George Peck. The deceased arrived in Wellington in the Catherine Stuart Forbes in 1841, and since that time had resided in the Hutt district. He leaves a widow and a family of fourteen sons and daughters, and no less than 102 grand and great grandchildren, who are nearly all residing in the provincial district. During his long career as a farmer Mr. Peck had amassed considerable means, and for some time past had ceased to take any active part in the work of the farm, but was still a hale and hearty old gentleman, and when he left home yesterday morning was apparently in good health. Dr. Whitehead was called in to see deceased, and apoplexy was said to be the probable cause of death. It is not yet known whether an inquest will be necessary, but a report has been sent to the Coronor by Constable Harnett.
