Biography

Thomas Handasyde Peck was a wealth Boston merchant, a furrier and hat maker. He had cargo ships under his control. He was active in the revolutionary ferment brewing in Boston, being listed as one of the "300 who dined" at the 1769 formation of the Sons of Liberty. His grandson, Thomas Handasyde Perkins continued his mercantile empire, trading in China. He was likely the guardian of his nephew, Continental Naval Capt. John Peck Rathbone, after his parents died.
