Madelyne was born Feb. 15, 1920 in Finlayson, Minn. to Ocie and Violet (Foley) Peck. She was raised in Kelliher, Minn., graduating from Kelliher High School. She then attended Bemidji Normal School now known as Bemidji State. After the death of her first husband, Albert VanHouse, Lyne was a 'Rosie the Riveter' at Holman Field in St. Paul during WW II. She then married Lester Sanders on July 29, 1945. They moved to Superior, WI in 1951 and to Duluth, MN in 1960. Lyne worked as a substitute teacher in Superior; a clerk at City Market; a waitress at The Androy Hotel, The Flame, Black Bear Lounge and the Wabegon Supper Club and was a CNA at Nopeming Nursing Home. She was a member of Fond du Lac Community Church and the Esko Lionesses. She raised five children, Patricia, Terry, Jacquelyn, Craig and Kevin.
