Biography

Benjamin was born on 6 March 1711, the son of Samuel Peck and Elizabeth Lee [1] [2]

He married Sarah Champden [sic] on 8 February 1734. [2] They were the parents of:

  1. Dan Peck [3]
  2. Mehitable Peck [4]
  3. Benjamin Peck [5]
  4. Dan Peck [6]
  5. Elizabeth Peck [7]
  6. Cyrus Peck [8]
  7. Elias Peck [9]
  8. Sarah Peck, b. 21 Feb 1750, d. 4 Apr 1775 [2]
  9. Lee Peck, b. 1 Jul 1752, probably married in Lyme, Elizabeth Marvin [2]
  10. Esther Peck, b. 30 Oct 1756 [2]

Arriving from Lyme in the Connecticut Colony, Benjamin Peck and his family, along with his brother Silas, were among the first New England Planters who resettled in Nova Scotia, [2] beginning in 1760, on lands that had been seized from the Acadians by the British in a brutal ethnic cleansing and deportation known as Le Grand Dérangement (Great Upheaval) that began five years earlier.

On 10 January 1764, Benjamin Peck was given a grant of 1½ shares (750 acres) of Horton Township in Kings County, Nova Scotia, in present-day Kentville. [2] Upon his death, the land was divided between his sons, Benjamin and Cyrus. [2]
