Sarah was born in 1844. She passed away in 1948.
Sarah published a book of her poems in 1923, titled "Homey Poems." One of these, "To Lullaby-Town," is dated 1897, and was written for her granddaughter Virginia Chandler.
She lived with her son after the death of her husband in 1910, remaining after he remarried in 1922 for the rest of her life.
In May, 1947, she took the leading role in a play she wrote, performed in Providence by the Basement Studio Players.
In October, 1947, she visited a mother and new-born son at the Providence Lying-In Hospital, as the oldest known native-born resident of Providence.
