Maren Dortea was born in 1788 at Østgaarden (Elset), Solum.[1] She was the daughter of Peder Christensen Nyhus / Østgaarden and Maren Kristine Eliasdatter Lasken.[1][2]
In the 1801 census at Elset, Solum, the 12 years old Maren Dorthea Pedersdatter is listed with her stepfather Anders Hansen and her mother Maren Kirstine Eliasdatter.[3]
She was confirmed on 6 October 1805 in Solum.[4]
