Biography
Left home in Superior WI about 1917. He told his son that he left because his father (Nels) objected to Louis keeping money out from his paycheck for 22 caliber bullets. Louis was working at a grain mill at the time. He was rejected by the US Navy because of a heart murmur. He moved to Baltimore with his sister Anna and her husband Captain Henry Johnson. Captain Johnson found Louis a job sailing in Baltimore. [1]
Married Hazel Elizabeth Ristau (b. 02 May 1900). They had one son, Louis Nels (b. 1932).
Louis Nels Pederson married Christa Elisabeta Schmidt. they had three children: Nels Eric, Nancy Christa, and Eric Louis.
Louis Nels gathered an enormous amount of family tree information.
Research Notes
From Winter 1979 letter from Louis N. [Nels] Pederson to Nels Johnson: "Since my Mother was also from Superior, we visited her brother Oliver Ristau and her sister Eunice Howey. In the past year, John Andrews and Charles Howey passed away.
