In 1841 [George] Peel (age ??) lived at Cockburn in Fewston with his wife Nancy (45) and eight children: Robert (20), George (16), Samuel (14), Anne (12), Nancy (10), Mary (7), John (4), and Jesse (2).[3]
In 1851 George Peel (age 62, Lande Pror & Wheelwright) lived in [Thruscross] with his wife Nancy (53) and five children: Samuel (24, Shoe Maker), Anne (21, Farmer Daur), Nancy (19, FD), John (15, Wheelwright Son), and Jesse (12, Wheelwright Son), as well as granddaughter Anne (4, FD).[4]
George Peel passed away on 19 Aug 1859, aged 71 years. His death was registered in Pateley Bridge, Yorkshire in the third quarter of the year.[5] He was buried on 23 Aug 1859 in Fewston.[6]
"18 August [1860]. The Will of George Peel late of West End in the Township of Thruscross in the County of York Yeoman deceased who died 19 August 1859 at West End aforesaid was proved at Wakefield by the oaths of Nancy Peel of West End aforesaid Widow the Relict and Samuel Peel of the same place Shoemaker the Son the Executors. Effects under £100."[7]
