Thomas was born in Nelson, Lancashire, England, in 1845, He was the son of John Peel, and Betty Stowell. Thomas was Baptized on July 20, 1845 at the parish Church in Colne, Lancashire England. He married Eleanor Berry in 1871 at Saint John the Evangelist, Marsden, Lancashire. The couple would have at least six children. Upon his death in 1911, Thomas' personal effects were left in Probate to his children William, Jane, and Elizabeth.
