Biography

Mary J. Peeler wed Thomas Barns November 16, 1852 in DeKalb County, Georgia as seen in an image of the original marriage register.[1]

Mary J Barnes was enumerated at Post Office Flat Rock, Barnes District, DeKalb County, Georgia for the August 9, United States Census, 1860. She was noted as a domestic and born 1837 in Georgia as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are male Thos Barnes, female Martha A Barnes, female Harriett L Barnes, female Susan Barnes, male Thos J Barnes, male Benjmin F Barnes, female Malissa V Barnes and female Mary Peeler.[2]

Mary J Barns was enumerated at Lithonia Post Office, DeKalb County, Georgia for the July 22, United States Census, 1870. She was noted as born 1833-1834 in Georgia and keeping house. She had $2000 in value of real estate and $725 in value of personal assets as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are male Thomas J Barns, male Benjamin Barns, female Malissa Barns, female Anna Barns, male Charles Barns, male Henry Barns, male Samuel Barns and female Mary Peeler.[3]
