Leonard B. Peete, 66, of Marshall, Texas, formerly of Tupper Lake, died Wednesday, Jan 25, 1995 at the Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, after an extended illness. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Diegel officiating. Interment was in Colonial Gardens Cemetery at Marshall, TX, Military honors were accorded at the graveside under the auspices of barksdale Air Force Base. He was born in Tupper Lake on August 14, 1928, a son of Joseph and Anna Deneault Peets, and attended Holy Ghost Academy. He was a veteran of 20 years service with the U.S. Air Force, retiring with the rank of technical sergeant. Thereafter he was employed by the City of Marshall Water Department until his retirement in 1984. Other previous employment include the Mitsubishi Aircraft plant in San Angelo, Texas. Surviving Mr. Peete are his wife, the former Eletha Eugenia Tibbits of Marshall, to whom he was married on Aug. 15, 1955 at Great Falls, Montana; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Amy Peete of Longview; stepsons and step daughters-in-law, Jerry Tibbits of Montana, Tom and Judy Tibbits of St. Augustine, Florida, Dennis and Bebe Tibbits of Marshall; a stepdaughter Sharon Smith of Missouri City, MO; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Carol Peete of Poughkeepsie, NY and LeRoy and Carolyn Peete of Newton Falls, NY; one sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Richard Shinnock of Massena, NY; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 9 nieces and nephews.
