Robert was the son of Andrew and May (White) Peirce, born 7 October 1882 in Valparaiso, Indiana. [1]
Robert attended local schools in Valparaiso and also worked as a clerk in the family boot and shoe store. He never married.
In 1909, he moved to Rockford, Illinois, and was working as a clerk for the Smith and Son Shoe Factory.[2] A year later, he was living in a boarding house in Chicago and working as a shoe salesman. [3]
At the time of the 1918 World War I registration for the draft, Robert was living with his mother in Detroit and working for the Grand Trunk Company in the brush department. He was described as being of medium height and slender, with brown hair and eyes.[4]
In early 1921, Robert moved to Los Angeles, where he died about a year later of tuberculosis. [5]According to his death certificate, he was working as an electrician at the time of his death, and had been residing in California for about two years. He had been diagnosed with tuberculosis five years before his death. He was only 39 years of age when he died.[6]
