Biography
Birth
James was born in 1839. He is the son of John Pelkey and Second Daughter Wīhą́gā.
Military Record
He and his older brother Louis enlisted in Co. H, 2nd Minnesota Infantry on 15 July 1861. He was mortally wounded in the Battle of Missionary Ridge on 23 Nov. 1863, and died three days later. (MN in the Civil and Indian Wars, 141)
