The family did not escape the deportations during the Grand Dérangement. They were deported to the New England Colonies in 1755 and appeared on a list of Acadian exiles in Preston, Connecticut on 9 September 1763. [5]

After the end of the Seven Years' War in 1763, the Acadians detained in the Anglo-American colonies were finally free to leave. On 1 March 1765, James Murray, Governor of the Province of Quebec, issued a proclamation offering free land to new immigrants. Between 1765 and 1775, 1306 Acadians deported to New England immigrated to Quebec. According to historian André-Carl Vachon, the Brun family was among the passengers of the brigantine Pitt that left New London, Connecticut on 26 June 1767 and arrived at the port of Quebec on 31 July 1767. Travelling with Jean-Baptiste and Marie-Madeleine were their children Marie-Josèphe 27, Amand-Grégoire 25, Marie-Madeleine 17, Marie-Anne 15, and Praxède 11. The first mention of the family in an official record in Quebec was at the baptism of Praxède on 21 September 1767 at Notre-Dame-de-Québec. [5]

She passed away in 1768. [6]
