Biography

John Pember was born to John and Mary (Hyde) Pember on 16 October 1719 in Norwich Township, New London, Connecticut.[1][2]

His family had moved up through Lebanon and Stafford, far into the country. There are recorded land deeds for John Pember in the area of Stafford; some may be for this John Pember, rather than his father.[3]

He returned to Norwich before 1750 and married Irene Wood of Windham 22 March 1749. [4] He lived on Birchard's Plains the rest of his life.[5]

Children of John and Irene were:

  1. Hannah - 20 March 1749/1750[6]
  2. John - 31 October 1751[7]
  3. Andrew - 17 November 1753[8]
  4. Ireney - 3 February 1756[9]
  5. Eli - 22 December 1758; d. 2 May 1762[10]
  6. Eli (again) - 17 August 1762[11]

He died 13 May 1767 in Norwich West Farms.[12]

His will was dated 1 May 1767 and was probated 16 June 1767 (Volume 2, page 28 of the probate records). [13][14]There are also records of guardians being appointed for Eli, Ireney and Andrew when they reached the age of consent.[15]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with John:

Pember-103 and Pember-72 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate.

Rick,

I think this John Pember is either a duplicate of John Pember (Junior), son of John Pember or a duplicate of John Pember son of John Pember Junior who was born in 1751 and died in 1827.

Either way, we need to merge him, since his birth and death dates don't make sense (he would have died at 108!) S
