Hello Diana,

Thank you for creating around 44 pre-1700 profiles to present, including James Fergusson (1500-1587) as the oldest born and going up to James Reynolds (abt.1691-1750).

Our community standard is that all pre-1700 profiles require at least one reliable source be cited in order to proceed with creation. (Please see Help citing pre-1700 profiles.) I reviewed many of these 44 profiles, and for the ones I sampled, they all cited as their sole source either an Ancestry Tree or the Family Search Tree. Please know that public trees found on the internet are not considered reliable sources and many are rife with errors that we do not want to replicate on Wikitree where we are building a foundation on strong source information to back up our tree.

Before creating any more pre-1700 profiles, please go back and provide reliable sources for the ones you have already created.

If you need help with sourcing them, the England Project and US Southern Colonies Project are probably good places to start based upon many of the 44 profiles being located within the purview of one of those two projects.

Please let me know if you need help or clarification on any of this.

Thanks.

-William

Hi Diana,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The United States Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles that you manage or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hi Diana

At WikiTree, we aim to protect the privacy of all living individuals for their protection and in line with data protection legislation.

WikiTree has excellent privacy controls, but that won’t protect you and your family if you publish your personal information, or the information of your living family members, in your biography, Communications section, or on the profiles of others.

Since WikiTree is a public website, I suggest you remove references to your birth date and locations, and those living family members from your biography. Instead, I suggest setting up profiles for your family members.

For further information, see Privacy and Data Protection. For WikiTree’s Privacy Policy, see Privacy Policy.

Many thanks

Wendy ~ WikiTree Greeter
