Biography

Ted McDowell Penland was born on April 7, 1907, in Haywood County, North Carolina. After moving to Forsyth County, North Carolina, he met and married Ella Matilda Lyons. They had a child, a baby girl. Ella died of tuberculosis on June 21, 1934.


Ted married Rachel Kimball on 19 April 1935 in Forsyth County, North Carolina, and together they raised India, Ted and Ella's daughter. [1]


Ted's birth as well as his date of death are confirmed by his death record. Ted died on September 9, 2000, and is buried in Forsyth Memorial Park, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. [2]
