Johann "Hans" Penner was born on 4 Nov 1925 in Silberfeld, Slavgorod, Russia, the son of Jacob Penner and Katharina Thiessen.
Johann (age 4) and his family emigrated as refugees to Paraguay. They departed from Germany on 15 Mar 1930 on the SS Bayern, destined for Buenos Aires, Argentina.[1]
Hans married Sara Unger on 27 Nov 1948 in Landskrone, Fernheim, Paraguay. They had 10 children together.
In 1952, Hans and his family moved to Brazil.[2] In 1962, they emigrated to Canada.
After his first wife passed away, Hans married Sara Thiessen on 4 July 1992 in Abbotsford.[3]
He passed away on 30 Sep 2003 in Abbotsford aged 77.[3][4] He was buried in Maclure Road Mennonite Cemetery in Abbotsford.[5]
