Research Notes

Family 1: Note: At the time of their marriage, he was born Klein Wickerau and she was from Lackendorf. Family 2: Note: Married by Peter Dyk

Note: Gerhard Penner had passed away by the time of the May 1813 Chortitza Colony Census, where his wife is listed as a widow at Chortitza #2.

The November 1815 Chortitza Colony Census states that Gerhard died in 1813. Note: Gerhard settled at Wickerau by Elbing, Prussia. He migrated from Prussia to the Chortitza Colony, S. Russia in 1795 (P. Rempel, p. 43).

In the 1797 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed with his family, but not in a specific village (P. Rempel, p. 54). He seems to have originally settled in Rosenthal, but he later exchanged the Rosenthal homestead for the Chortitza homestead of Gerhard Pries #110533 (P. Rempel, p. 43; B. H. Unruh, p. 246).

In the 1801 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Chortitza #4.

In the 1806 Census he is listed in Chortitza (P. Rempel, p. 7).

In the November 1807, October 1808, and May and November 1811 Chortitza Colony censuses he is listed at Chortitza #3.

In the May 1814 Chortitza Colony Census, Gerhard's widow Anna is listed at Chortitza #2.

Penner-1203 and Penner-530 appear to represent the same person because: Three hundred years : Peter Penner (1850-1924) and Margaretha Wiebe (1854-1945) Danzig and Elbling, Prussia to Chortitza and Bergthel, Russia to Rudnerweide Manitoba. Penner-1203 and Penner-530 do not represent the same person because: Parents and spouses, birth and death dates all don't match.

A few things would have to be verified to do a merge. The wedding date to Helena Driedger and death date would be one and the second son born too many years after death date.

Penner-1200 and Penner-530 appear to represent the same person because: Looks like a duplicate. Parents are same. One spouse is same. two children mentioned seem to agree. Don't know why difference in death date. Sources on Penner-1200 seem to sow that death date feasible.
