Biography

Maude Edith Pennington was born on 25 Oct 1875 in Shebbear, Torrington, Devon, England^[1][2], daughter of Walter William Pennington (1846 - 1884) and Kathleen Constantia (Tunaley) Pennington (1852 - 1901).

Maude married Fredrick William Grove (born in Nova Scotia, Canada on 25 Feb 1865; died in Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia in 1953)

Their children were:

1. Francis Edith Grove (1897 - 1993)
2. Alice Grove (1900 - 1999)
3. Helen Olive Grove (1902 - )
4. William Walter Grove (1904 - 1991)
5. Fredrick Arthur Grove (1908 - 1909)
6. Peggy Grove (1914 - ).

In the 1901 census Maud (age 25) was the wife of Frederick Grove in Nova Scotia.^[3]

In the 1911 census Maud (age 35), None, was the wife of Fredrick Grove in Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia.^[4]

Maude died on 31 Dec 1914 in Beaver Bank aged 39. She is buried in Church of the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Beaver Bank.^[5][6]

Word of mouth from my grandfather William Walter Grove, Maude's son, His mother, Maude died because back then the doctors did not wash their hands and she ended up with blood poisoning.
