John Pennington

Biography

John Pennington lived in Logan/Simpson County, KY. He apparently went there abt 1815 and was married there.

He was there in 1817 when Levi III land was signed over to Margaret 'Peggy' (Cowan) Pennington.

Simpson Co., KY was formed from Allen, Logan, and Warren Counties. It was created on 28 Jan 1819. Most records were destroyed in a fire 16 May 1882.

John was born in 1789. He is the son of Levi Pennington and Elizabeth Ray. ^[1]

L.B. (Littleberry) 46 NC, Nancy 38 KY, James H (or A) 18, John W 16,Moses J. 14, Joseph E 12, Mary L 10, Nancy J 8, and Binnitt 6 (male). Binnitt/Bennett was probably named after one of the Bennett's of Simpson County. All children listed as born in KY.

Burial

John Pennington b. 22 Jul ___ d. 1859 Member of Baptist Church 30 years. Levinia Pennington, Consort of John Pennington 3 Aug 1793--17___1846. Both buried in Pennington Cemetery, 3 1/10 mile southwest of Franklin on Hwy 383. Cemetery is about 50 yards west of the road in a field owned by Duncan Akin.

Note: Levinia is probably John's 2nd wife. In 1850, John was married again a 3rd time to M. Pennington, which we assume was Mary Pennington.
