Biography

Frank Pennington was born on 28 Apr 1836 in East Retford, Nottinghamshire and baptised there on 28 May 1836 at the Wesleyan Methodist Church^[1][2] He was the youngest of six children born to Frederick Pennington and Mary (Darley) Pennington.

The couple had six children: Rebecca (b.1827); Jane (b.1829); James (b.1831); Walter (b.1833); Frederick (b.1834); and Frank (also known as Francis, b.1836)^[3].

By age 15, he had left home with his elder brother Fred and sister Jane to live in Newton in Makerfield, Lancashire^[4].

It seems likely that he married a Kate in Lancashire, and thereafter lived in Liverpool or Bootle area (records to be sought).
