Newton was born about 1876. He is the son of Henry Pennington and Celia Tackett.

1880 Census. Henry was living with Cely Ann in Belts Beat, Lamar, Alabama along with five sons. Cely was 27 and Henry was 28. The children in the home wee: Samuel age 10; Alonso age 8; Hays age 6; Neut age 4; and Milton, age 2. They were all born in Alabama.[1]

Research

Henry Pennington was born on June 15, 1846 in Fayette County, Alabama. He married Celia Ann Tackett on July 20, 1868. They had seven children: Samuel Earnest (July 1869), Alonzo "Lonzo" (June 15, 1875), Hayes (1874), Newt (1876), Milton Brown (1877), Melvin L. (June 24, 1880), John Wesley (February 29, 1892). Henry Pennington died on March 23, 1935 and is buried in the Wofford Cemetery in Lamar County, Alabama. [[1]]
